Jayesslee-Tune of the day

Jayesslee is a musical group of two girls from Australia. Their music has inspired and amazed me time and time again; I encourage you to visit their page. 

Jayesslee are Janice and Sonia, and they really are twins. Same hair, same face, they are similar in many ways yet once you get to know they, you’ll find that they are different at the same time. They are 23 years old, born and raised in Sydney Australia. Both parents are Korean, so they are able to read, write and speak the language. They have always shared a passion for singing and now, they are both pretty set on pursuing music. They don’t sing to be rated, but every comment, message, rating and subscriber has made this journey for they all the more rewarding!

 I am a sucker for voicing and I am totally digging their music!!!

2ND YEAR of TOGETHERNESS

To come-up with something nice to surprise your husband on your anniversary is not very easy for a jobless, stay-at-home mom like me.

When we drove back to California to visit, I made sure I packed some of little decors I can play with to make this tiny temporary place look somewhat special.

Potpourri's, tealights, glass bowls, artificial flowers and I dont even have many of them.

We didn't have anything planned because this year is quite tough for us. We just decided to purchase an economical ride instead.

But I really hate letting an occasion come by w/o making it special.

Just to make my husband feel how I cherish another year we have completed as companions, I tried my best to come-up with something without spending, it is really a challenge for me.

The practice:

$1.99 lantern tea light holders from goodwill, $.99 placemat & $.99 tall candles from 99c store, left over potpourri's.

I dont have rose petals, but I do have potpourri's, works the same.

Silk pillow case that I have. $1 candleholders from goodwill, $.99c artificial flower, $1 flowervase from Dollar store, Candles (champagne glass & saltNpepper shaker) that my husband made for me from xmas of last year.

Yup! That's a bed sheet that matches the pillowcase hehe.

The Anniversary banner is his mom & dad's that I found when I cleaned his dad's house and he gave it to me.

The wall a/c is what I use as a mantel.

The house smells good, lights are low & I played love songs.

I changed the table cover bcoz I realized my daughter is eating with us.

My daughter made us anniversary cards.

I added tealights on the gel and mirror underneath.

I wanted an easy cook meal and thought of Myric @Petites Passions, stuffed bell pepper's she posted on her other blog. I looked up recipe to make it.
Made some chops and toast and creamy turkey brocolli soup too for appetizer.
I totally forgot to take picture of the food!! (it looked ughh ugly haha)

I know this may be simple BUT I am PROUD of what I have prepared!

AND he was really surprised when he walked in the room....so I actually did a great job!!!

I am thankful and blessed with two wonderful years!

Like fine wine, it gets better & better.

Wear KNOT on SCARF

Cold season is HERE!!!!

It is time to break out those cold season oufits.

For me it is the most fashionable season. You get to wear fashionable boots, nice turtle neck longsleeve shirts, shawls, cardigans etc. 

My personal fave for this season is SCARF!
(w/c doesnt get out of style &is still wearable in summer)

One of the easiest way to accesorize for winter is just putting on those cute & colorful scarves.

One plain top and toss in that scarf makes a difference. From boring to a fashion statement!

My Monday Song

It's our 2nd year anniversary and I am in the kick of listening to a good music while I prepare the house for my hubby to make it a special night and for it to look different for this occasion.

FILO Friday

Living in U.S. for many Americans is already economically tough, therefore it is guaranteed to be even more difficult for minorities such as Filipino's. Not only that us immigrants have to come from another country, we have to get accustomed to America's way of living, to the language and to American cuisine. There were times that I long for a Filipino to talk to with my own native tongue, the TV soaps I used to watch every afternoon, and most of all I crave for Filipino food. So last night I hopped on the computer and looked for a dish I have been craving for a while now.

Sauteed Pork 
a.k.a.

PORK GINILING  

(giniling=ground)

**This dish is originally ground pork but ground beef works too.

 

A well known Filipino dish that translates the richness of flavor and color of our Philippine food heritage. Giniling (ground) can be made in many different ways and u can give your own touch to the dish. It is typically a sweet dish and inexpensive to make.


Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
2 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cubed (around 1 cup)
1 large carrot, peeled and cubed
1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and cubed
1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and cubed
1/2 cup raisins
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1/2 onion, peeled and finely chopped
1 small can of tomato sauce
1-2 cups water
2 tbsps vegetable oil
salt and pepper to taste
 green peas & hard boiled eggs or quail eggs (optional) 

Procedure
In a skillet, heat over medium heat around 2 tbsps of oil. Saute onions and garlic until translucent and fragrant. Add ground beef and stir-fry for about 6 to 8 minutes, or until the meat is brown. Regularly break beef into smaller pieces with back of spoon. Drain excess oil. Continue to cook for about 2 to 3 minutes. 
Add potatoes & carrots, stir. Add tomato sauce
Add water. Bring mixture to a gentle boil. Lower heat, cover and continue to simmer until meat is tender and fully cooked. Add more water as necessary to maintain around one or two cups. Cook until vegetables are tender and raisins are softened. Add bell peppers and raisins. Cook until crisp-tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.Add hard-boiled eggs if desired.

I have been in search of an easy craft/tutorial to decor this tineee-tiny room I'm staying @ and make it feel autumn-y. 

Since U.S. is not like Philippines that when BER months hits, almost every household brings out their Christmas decors out of their storage and starts putting it up one by one. 

Most of my ornament is back in California so I need to create/copy something that is simple, cheap & can be found inside the house.

Trick or TREAT!!!

Trick or treat night!!
This reminds me of Xmas caroling in Philippines.
The time of the year when kids are out.
The only difference is,
trick or treat is much easier to do,
you just put costume on,
say trick or treat!!
and BE CUTE!
 You do not have to memorize christmas song or learn its melody
and carry around your home-made musical instruments...

Today husband is working late.
I thought he wont be home b4 dark
& we will be stuck walking around for an hour.
But he made it in time.

While I am prepping my daughter he called to pick us up. 

We hit couple neighborhoods nearby so my daughter can go trick or treating.
Boy the streets were busy!!....

The rugrats were out!!! 

Lil tots knocking on the doors and saying "trick or treat" in chorus. 

I thought it was super CUTE!   

We decided princess look cuz its gonna be cold & its up to them to decide w/c princess she is hehe.

My daughter got tons of compliments,
"you look so pretty!"
"I love your dress"
"hello there beautiful princess"
"are you  tangled?"

No One's Home...

We were even asked if she have hair extensions on.....

She had to follow the arrow for the treats...Daddy hid and spooked her!

..and my husband says "halloween is supposed to be creepy", 

I said, "welcome to 2011, it's easy to be prettiER than creepiER!."
